2020.09.26 18:11 FriendlyTemperature CAP: Synthetics Update

Hey guys! I've made a few posts about CAP in the last few months. Since I first posted, they've launched a working beta (proof of concept with a BTC/DAI margin trading pair done entirely from Metamask) and an open source github. Today they published a blog post stating that they will be launching CAP Synthetics on testnet with an AAPL-DAI pair.
https://blog.cap.finance/2020/09/26/synthetics-testnet.html
What is CAP?
CAP is a protocol that lets you trade the markets with stablecoins. You can trade stocks, cryptos, ETFs, foreign exchange, and more. You can also provide liquidity to traders to receive high yields.
Cap uses an automated market maker to quote liquidity around an asset’s last price. A liquidity pool that anyone can participate in receives losses and pays out profits.
Tokenomics:
These are being updated in the next week. 9.88M tokens will be minted and burned so the total supply will be 120k with 20k allocated to the team in a time-locked smart contract.
Notes:
Team is anonymous but have stated they have worked for some of the big tech companies (Facebook, Amazon, Google, Apple). Also, an early buyer holds 54% of the 100k tokens. This person is a partner of the teams and have a written contract not to sell for two years. Whether you believe the team or not is up to your own risk tolerance so DYOR.

2020.09.24 18:39 gevera Element UI for Svelte => What will it take?

So I am a big fan of Svelte. And as probably most of you, I have used Vue before that.
One the most popular and starred UI toolkits on github is Element UI And, to be honest, I would love to have a high quality, gorgeous looking and complete UI toolkit for Svelte, just like this one.
As of right now, I use pure CSS frameworks like Spectre CSS or Cirrus UI
But I do still miss features like sorting tables, calendar and alike. I have to implement them manually for each project I have and it takes time. I wonder if any of you are interested in partnering up and porting Element UI to Svelte. This is a long term challenge that requires dedication and investment of time. Anybody?

2020.09.23 18:03 gundalow Ansible 2.10.0 has been released!

Hi everybody,
Very excited to announce the release of ansible 2.10. This is the first release of Ansible since we swapped to collections.
I want to pass on my thanks to everybody in the Ansible Community that has helped us get to this point. I know it's been a long and involved process, though we are now seeing the benefits.
Important: If you are upgrading from an older Ansible release, please see the How to get it section for an important limitation.

What is this

The Ansible package combines the work that went into decoupling the ansible-base package, released last month, from the Ansible plugins and the work of many contributors from the community, at numerous partner businesses, and from Ansible itself to make the decoupled content available to run on that base. Its goal is to provide users an incrementally improved featureset over Ansible-2.9 but created from multiple separate projects.
For an overview of "Ansible Collections" and the differences between ansible-base and ansible please see https://github.com/ansible-collections/overview/blob/main/README.rst

How to get it

Due to a limitation in pip, you need to uninstall Ansible 2.9 (or earlier) before installing the 2.10 version:
$ pip uninstall ansible ansible-base $ pip install ansible==2.10.0 --user
The tar.gz of the release can be found here:

What's new in Ansible 2.10.0

Caveats and known bugs

COLLECTION_INSTALL=$(python -c 'import ansible, os.path ; print("%s/../ansible_collections" % os.path.dirname(ansible.file))') ansible-galaxy collection list -p "$COLLECTION_INSTALL"
These fortios modules are not automatically redirected from their 2.9.x names to the new 2.10.x names within collections. You must modify your playbooks to use fully qualified collection names for them. You can use the documentation (https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/2.10/collections/fortinet/fortios/) for the fortinet.fortios collection to determine what the fully qualified collection names are.

What's the schedule for new Ansible releases after 2.10.0?

Porting Help

There's a unified porting guide for collections that have opted-in. You can find that at: https://github.com/ansible/ansible/blob/devel/docs/docsite/rst/porting_guides/porting_guide_2.10.rst

2020.09.23 05:24 sklinklinkink Unity - Steam Authentication with Mirror server

Hello, I'm currently working on a multiplayer game using Unity with Mirror for client-server communications. I didn't want my players to have to create an account for the game so I decided to integrate with Steam using the Steamworks.NET API. You'll also need SimpleJSON.cs which you can copy into a new script from that link. You can use any JSON parser you like, I just chose this one because it's easy to use. Unfortunately Unity's built in JSON parser can't handle the JSON object returned by Steam's Web API because one of the keys is called "params". Seriously. Lastly, a Steam Web API token is required which you can create here.
Anyway, once you have Mirror, Steamworks, and SimpleJSON in your project, copy my SteamAccount.cs code into a script and just attach it to the same object as your SteamManager component from Steamworks.NET. If you look in my code, the Error method won't work because I'm using a separate component to display dialog boxes, but you can replace that with any kind of error handling method you like.
The authentication is pretty simple, the client creates a session authentication ticket when the game starts via SteamUser.GetAuthSessionTicket. Once the client has connected to the server, it passes the hex encoded ticket to the server. The server then makes a UnityWebRequest to Steam's Web API which responds back with a JSON object with some info about the user. The returned Steam ID is considered authentic and can be used as a unique account identifier in place of a username. We can then load whatever client info we need and tell the client to call AddPlayer so they join the server.
For this to work in Mirror, you must make sure "Auto Create Player" is unchecked in the NetworkManager component, otherwise the player will be spawned without waiting for verification from the server. Then call callValidate() inside NetworkManager.OnClientConnect to automatically start authentication when the client connects to the server. My code is pretty bare bones, the error handling isn't very extensive but it should do the minimum required. The commenting may be pretty crude, but it should at least help you understand what the code is supposed to do. Hope this helps!

2020.09.22 23:45 AplastaP Python program for 3080 custom cards benchmarks comparison

Hi, I was wondering if there was any big benchmarks comparison between the major 3080 partners' cards and I didn't find it. So i decided to make one myself.
Stock run out in seconds these days so people ends up buying whatever model they can click first. I think it could be useful for people to make some way to quickly compare different model so you can check it out in a quick look by whatever standard you want and decide which one of the available at the moment of the restock is the better option for you.
So i write a little (and probably shitty) python program that let you add information of benchmarks (manually) and compare the % of improvement / decrement over the FE in that specific benchmark and save it into a list in a .txt file.

Why % over the FE?

I choose the % oveunder the FE because every review or benchmark out there uses a different PC build , cooling solutions, etc. so i find this variable the most reliable way to compare different reviews and obtain a result that is comparable to one another.

Why customize your list?

Let's say for example that you are really interest in playing Microsoft Flight Simulator with your future 3080 graphic card so you can compare the fps benchmark of that game and see which one could be the better card for you in that specific game.

CODE:

Disclaimer: I'm still learning python don't be too harsh on me, there is probably infinite ways to make this more efficient or better, but this is my solution. I will gladly listen to some advice, just mind I'm still a noob in coding.
I post it here because i think is probably too bad to deserve to be post on GitHub

answer = True #while condition f = open("Tier.txt", "a") #make a txt file and add the results on it def ModComp(cardSpecs, feSpecs): """Take 2 float values a return the % of improvement over the FE (if negative the % of decrement over the FE) """ result = ((cardSpecs - feSpecs)/feSpecs) * 100 return round(result,2) while answer: model = input("Please write the model you want to compare: ") reviewLink = input("Please write the review URL: ")#Leave it empty if you don't want to document where the review comes from partnerSpecs = float(input("Please enter the " + model + " benchmark result you want to compare:"))#input the benchmark score of a partners' card feSpecs = float(input("Please enter the FE benchmark result you want to compare:"))#input the benchmark score of the FE print("The diference is:",model +":", str(ModComp(partnerSpecs, feSpecs)) +"%") f.write(model+": "+ str(ModComp(partnerSpecs,feSpecs))+"% Link: "+ reviewLink + "\n")#write everything on the txt file print("File saved.") userAnswer = input("Do you want to add another card?(Y/N)") userAns = userAnswer.upper() if userAns == "N" or userAns == "NO":#while condition control answer = False f.close()

MY CUSTOM LIST:

  1. MSI Gaming X Trio: 3.3569530558015948% Link: https://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/gpu_displays/msi_rtx_3080_gaming_x_trio_review/17
  2. ASUS Tuf O10G Gaming: 1.4767814026615755% Link: https://www.profesionalreview.com/2020/09/18/asus-tuf-rtx-3080-o10g-gaming-review/

Those are the models available in my country without default OC ( I prefer to OC myself in the future if it's necessary) but that's the main reason why i prefer to share the code instead of my list so if anyone find it useful you could make your own or share it in the comments for those who might be interested.

Thank you for your time reading through all that ramble, and sorry if my grammar wasn't perfect in some points. I'm not a native English speaker.

2020.09.22 15:59 luigislowhand Consejos para buscar trabajo afuera (o tambien, aca)

Buenas Gente!

GetOnBoard: Empleos IT en Chile (5)

Catho
InfoJobs
Empregos

Trabajo Gallito
Accion Trabajo
Smart Talent: para IT (4)

CareerBuilder
Dice.com: Solo IT

CanadaJobs
Jobs In Canada:
Job Boom
Eluta

InfoJobs: el mas usado por lejos
Monster.
TecnoEmpleo: para posiciones IT (2)

Annonces Emploi
Pole Emploi: Oficina publica de empleos

Total Jobs
Reed
Adzuna
The Guardian Jobs: Portal de The Guardian
Work In Startups

Xing: Red social tipo LinkedIn
Honeypot: Posiciones IT

Subito
Jobbydoo
Generazione Vincente
Human Gest
Lavoropiù
Etjca

Seek
Working In Australia

The Yargıtay of the Ottoman Empire has declined to hear WeinerSchnitzel vs. Ibrahim for the following reasons:
First, Section 7 of the Ottoman Constitution enumerates among the powers and responsibilities of the Grand Mufti the authority to "determine the matter of legal standing where the Yargıtay exercises jurisdiction, unless otherwise specified by law." Because there is no law to the contrary, I as Grand Mufti have the authority to dismiss this case on the grounds of insufficient standing.
Second, the first clause of Section 7 of the Ottoman Constitution declares that:
The Yargıtay shall be responsible for all cases arising under this constitution, the laws of the Ottoman government, and controversies between danışmanları, between danışmanları and misafirler, and between all citizens and the Ottoman government.
Whereas this case falls into none of these categories, I rule that the Yargıtay lacks jurisdiction over this case. @WSchnitzel -Sificus Criceta Mazi is not an Ottoman citizen (indeed, not even a konuk), and is not suing the Ottoman government but rather @Ibrahim .
Additionally, the petitioner fails to cite any Ottoman statute. As of now, the Ottoman Empire lacks a federal statute concerning destruction of private property. The Yargıtay recommends consulting a more local court, or arbitration.
Case dismissed!

2020.09.21 05:46 btlkhs [OWL WATCH] Waiting for "IOTA TIME" 21-24;

Disclaimer: This is my editing for the last 1-2 weeks, so there could be some misunderstandings and exaggerations, especially because many of these convos are from 'spec channel', so please don't take it 100% fact-wise. I share this summary to help survive this patient game and spread good spirits of IOTA.

I think chrysalis will bring a nice pamp
people will see how well the protocol works through a nice new wallet
we'll have a suite of libraries for people to build with
new exchanges
maybe not to the same extent as coordicide but it'll increase our market rank significantly, imo
📷
Mark Schmidt [IF]어제 오전 8:49
As soon as the majority of tokens are bought for actual use, we can speak of proper valuations. Until then we will have speculation based valuation.

In IOTA you don't even have sheets. You just talk to each other and whenever you see a conflict you ask a few other people in the room if they saw the conflict in the same order as you.
📷
Jelle Millenaar [IF]어제 오후 8:10
IOTA Identity does the same using standards. That's always the difference between IOTA and others**. We are not a specific DLT that does one thing, we are a platform that can do it all (Well most of it).**

Hans Moog [IF]어제 오전 5:53
as I said earlier I think its an interesting idea to increase trust in payments that need fast confirmations
but if you don't have finality then it definitely doesn't work
I just say that it doesn't work without a concept of finality
and that's usually the hard part
in distributed consensus
📷
Hans Moog [IF]어제 오전 6:09
and if you have a permissioned group of coordinators then you can just run hashgraph
and an open and permissionless system is hard because you usually never reach true finality
but only probabilistic finality
📷
Hans Moog [IF]어제 오전 6:46
I am pretty sure that any consensus always involves voting and the quest for the best consensus is the quest for the best voting scheme but maybe I am wrong

The current goshimmer peering protocol mixes peer ID with salt to determine an ordering to select 8 peers for 2 hours. Anyway. Maybe you are not familiar with that system.
📷
Hans Moog [IF]어제 오후 7:18
I designed that system
📷
Hans Moog [IF]어제 오후 7:20
that's how multiverse works - every message is a statement by the issuing node which conflict it likes
and the subtangle with the most approvers wins
that works
but that's consensus
📷
Hans Moog [IF]어제 오후 7:23
finality requires consensus
consensus always requires voting
I just think that I have a pretty deep understanding of what is necessary for consensus.
I have researched this for years now
📷
Hans Moog [IF]어제 오후 8:01
the trilemma by definition only applies to blockchain
The trilemma is bullshit. The more decentralized the network is the more secure is it because you have more redundancy and its harder to corrupt a sufficient amount of validators. And since the answer to scalability is sharding, more validators also means easier sharding and therefore better scalability.

Hot take: Mana specs: I have questions
Mana is Coordicide’s main sybil protection mechanism, 15+ months in the making. The specs that were just released create more questions than answers.
📷
Billy Sanders [IF]오늘 오후 4:51
Does anyone know what specification they[buffy] are actually referring to? We haven't made any of the specifications public
📷
Navin Ramachandran [IF]오늘 오후 4:52
I presume it is this.

📷
Billy Sanders [IF]오늘 오후 4:53
Ah I see
Well one reason for the complications is we want a study on goshimmer which mana calculation method is better, method 1 or method 2
He raises a lot of good points that we have addressed internally
But the document above probably doesn't communicate
📷
Billy Sanders [IF]오늘 오후 5:12
We have specs for most of the protocol, and we hope to make them public in a few months
📷
Sissors
why a few months? You want to have them finalized before revealing them?
📷
Hans Moog [IF]오늘 오후 6:34
Writing specs that are concise enough to leave no open questions takes time and people are pretty busy + things are also still being optimized. While you implement and design data structures, you suddenly realize that some things can be solved in a much more efficient way than initially envisioned. We are for example thinking about increasing the number of other messages a message can reference as the tip selection has become orders of magnitude more efficient. This solves the last "problematic" attack vector of blowballs where an attacker tries to inflate the number of available tips. This change also massively decreases things like confirmation times. We are also getting rid of the nested value tangle and replace it with the "approval reset switch" that we discussed a few days ago so we only have 1 tangle in a single layer that contains everything. This will not only lead to a better perception of things like confirmation confidence as even data messages are contributing to the approval of value transfers but it also makes a lot of algorithms much simpler that would otherwise have to take the separation of the layers into account. If we would have tried to spec the state before these optimizations then this would have essentially been a lot of wasted time. The same goes for mana - while we implement the first version of it we expect a few interesting insights not only into how it behaves but how it can be optimized regarding its implementation. Once we feel confident that aspects are more or less final we will write concise specs but for now, the focus is on optimizations and learning from the real-world implementation.****(수정됨)
📷
toothless오늘 오후 6:38
Hans I reverse engineered your autopeering protocol. I would just like to say. It's beautiful.
It works well
Boot 500 connected nodes in minutes
At first, I did not like the UDP layer but now it makes total sense. Genius system
📷
Hans Moog [IF]오늘 오후 6:48
There are internal specs for pretty much everything and of course, you need them to implement stuff but internal specs and public specs are two different things as internal specs sometimes also name a few different "options" how to do things whereas public specs are usually very concise and leave very little room for discussions.****(수정됨)
📷
Hans Moog [IF]오늘 오후 6:50
It's just different scopes - just look at the little mana document that we have in goshimmer. Everybody who internally works on goshimmer knows that "access mana" controls the influence on rate control and your throughput in the network while "consensus mana" controls the influence in voting
📷
Hans Moog [IF]오늘 오후 6:53
It's two different aspects that are not necessarily related and the fact that we have 2 mana vectors totally confused cpt. WTF to a degree where he felt like he needs to write another article where he again tells everybody that he doesn't understand shit
Ideally, public specs wouldn't leave these kinds of questions open so people don't get confused

📷

the highest priority right now is really Chrysalis and delivering that on the mainnet.
for the testnet October is what we're aiming for
with that, we can then already speak with exchanges about integrations etc.
📷

more product announcements by us / partners will also come

📷
dom오늘 오전 4:04
sure it sucks and can get you frustrated. But fundamentally nothing has changed about our value proposition, delivery and focus. So while the market is high on defi atm and every other coin is announcing their own form of DeFi, we can't lose focus like that and diverge from the roadmap we defined
📷
dom오늘 오전 4:07
one thing that has been proven is that you can really not acquire a sustainable ecosystem and adoption in this space. So it is much better to really stay focused to deliver on the largest and most important upgrade of the IOTA protocol yet, and then with that accelerate adoption and more use cases. Everyone is super excited about it (partners + team + community) and what it will enable for our future.
📷

u/shonuff We have been in dialog with some of the big titans of S Korea before, but it was too early for them and too early for IOTA's tech
However, there are contact points there. After Chrysalis v2 things will hopefully start rolling
📷
David Sønstebø
u/ThomasQv It's very hard to give broad estimates, but there's certainly a lot of European and American companies that are eagerly awaiting Chrysalis v2, but whether that happens before or after Christmas is hard to say. These cycles within companies are hard to predict
📷
David Sønstebø
Chrysalis v2 is definitely a catalyst, it will make listing of IOTA as basic as most other projects as well, not just for exchanges but for other fintech applications

International standards setting is kind of the opposite of surprises. We have some nice surprises from IOTA Foundation in the form of draft Coordicide specs but these are not ready to go into the formal standard until Engineering have gone through them.
Today I gave the OMG an update on the current state of the IOTA Protocol. The (Research) raw specs are still in draft, I hope to have a more substantive draft for December but we can only submit formally once the IOTA2.0 specs are implemented on Mainnet, for March.
I hope to put out the blog post on standardization after this week's OMG meeting. So I can include updates on what we are doing this week.

📷
David Sønstebø
u/ThomasQv I will let the news speak for itself
📷
Chris Mueller
do companies actually tell you about their plans with iota or is this something you don't even know of - or does it depend on the company?
📷
David Sønstebø
u/Chris Mueller A lot do, but more excitingly, most no longer do. I.E. IOTA is being adopted organically by major players. One of the biggest service providers in Germany just told us casually in a call last week that they had 'over 80 entities' inquiring about IOTA. This is what we've been fighting for. This was an off-the-cuff comment, but truly made me more content with my time and energy investment over the past 5 years than almost any other IOTA related news.
📷
David Sønstebø
I don't want IF to become the 'hub' that all entities go through, that would defeat IOTA's purpose. The fact that there's such a demand for IOTA in the industry, without us even being aware, is the epitome of success for me
📷
sexypotato오늘 오전 5:45
I think many of us underestimate the Trojan horse IOTA is using with a data protocol. With this.. the IOTA token has several X more chances of being adopted than all other coins out there
📷
David Sønstebø
u/Chris Mueller Germany is definitely 'more pronounced' so to speak. IIRC IOTA is the most searched crypto tech in all of Germany. However, this is echoing the 'trend' we see across other countries (including my own) that we have been very active in... Of course, I can't divulge details, but let's just say that the demand is hard to keep up with from an organization perspective
📷
Chris Mueller
u/David Sønstebø I see - are these companies who want to start from scratch or has the space matured to such a degree that you can build upon knowledge on their side?(수정됨)
📷
David Sønstebø
u/Chris Muelle****r I'd say 50/50. I know that isn't a particularly satisfying answer to your question, but... it's just reality. Virtually all relevant companies have dipped their toes into 'BLOCKCHAIN WILL CHANGE THE WORLD' by now, but the technical understanding is lacking across the board, and when it comes to differentiating "Tangle vs Blockchain", often you might as well ask people to differentiate between interpretations of Quantum Mechanics
📷
David Sønstebø
Just a quote on that
"Bitwise's study in 2019 claimed that 95% of volume on unregulated exchanges was fake. Chainalysis' new study follows a report by crypto index fund provider Bitwise Asset Management claiming that as much as 95% of volume on unregulated exchanges appears to be fake or non-economic in nature"

📷
Octo
David, do you firmly believe in another bull market?
📷
David Sønstebø
u/Octo As you know, I'm probably the most prominent anti-spec people in crypto's history, so I am not sure if I'm the right guy to ask. All that being said: Yes, I do. There's too many billions of dollars invested and circulating the cryptosphere on a daily basis for the 'overall market' to not have more bull runs. How IOTA is positioned in those bullruns is of course a whole 'nother topic
Personally, I keep 95%+ of my wealth in IOTA. That's the strongest sentiment I can express

HDC 2020: HUAWEI Analytics Kit Helps Developers Foster Sustainable Business Growth
Find more ,please visit Devhub
The HUAWEI DEVELOPER CONFERENCE 2020 (Together) saw the unveiling of HMS Core's HUAWEI Analytics Kit, which gained widespread attention among developers. Analytics Kit is a cross-platform and multi-device analysis platform which provides a range of services for mobile and web app developers.
HUAWEI Analytics Kit, providing cross-platform and analysis services

App Service Sub-forum: HUAWEI Analytics Kit Keynote Speech

On September 11, the Product Executive of HMS Core's HUAWEI Analytics Kit spoke at an App Service sub-forum, to introduce global developers to the service's analysis capabilities. Features of HUAWEI Analytics Kit range from simplified SDK integration to intelligent product analysis, flexible event analysis, and rich multidimensional analysis reports. When combined, these allow developers, as well as product and operations personnel, to easily understand their users' behavior, and make informed decisions about how to market and optimize their apps.
HUAWEI Analytics Kit's Product Executive delivering his speech entitled Developing user growth strategies is easier with HUAWEI Analytics Kit

Free Cross-platform Services

During the keynote speech, the biggest highlight was arguably the fact that the Kit offers both cross-platform and multi-device analysis. With unified analysis of Android, iOS, and web products, product and operations personnel can view aggregated analysis reports for different platforms and devices, and drill down into analysis reports for certain platforms or devices. This means they can gain comprehensive insight into user behavior across different platforms and devices.

Diverse Analytics Models and Flexible Event Analysis

HUAWEI Analytics Kit can automatically collect more than 30 types of events, including app crashes, installations, uninstallations, updates, in-app purchases, and ad clicks. What's more, the Kit can generate dozens of multidimensional analysis reports based on more than 500 custom events, helping developers to customize events related to their services to comprehensively measure the performance of their apps.
The HUAWEI Analytics Kit capabilities introduced during the keynote speech

Flexible Audience Segmentation for Targeted Marketing

With HUAWEI Analytics Kit, developers can segment audiences by event and user attributes, or generate audiences based on retention analysis and funnel analysis, with one click. This helps them quickly implement hierarchical user operations.
HUAWEI Analytics Kit's refined audience segmentation
The generated audience can be used to set filtering conditions for each analysis report, which enables developers to analyze an audience's behavior features. Audiences can also be used by HUAWEI Push Kit, A/B Testing, and App Messaging for more precise marketing, closing the loop from insight to marketing.

Prediction Service

The keynote speech also saw HUAWEI Analytics Kit's Prediction Service being formally revealed. HUAWEI Prediction Service uses machine learning algorithms to predict which users are likely to be lost, and which are willing to pay, helping product and operations personnel plan activities to prevent user churn and improve payment conversion. Based on the prediction results, product and operations personnel can then use HUAWEI Push Kit, A/B Testing, and App Messaging to run refined operations across multiple scenarios.
Release of HUAWEI Analytics Kit's Prediction Service

Partner Speech - Data-Driven Intelligent Operations

Qiao Cheng, Chief Operating Officer of Now: Meditation, shared his experience of using HUAWEI Analytics Kit through a keynote speech entitled Identifying Valuable Users to Improve App Revenue.
A keynote speech by Now: Meditation, one of HUAWEI Analytics Kit's partners
According to Qiao Cheng, Now: Meditation has implemented differentiated operations and driven the growth of operation indicators based on user attributes, behaviors, and preferences provided by HUAWEI Analytics Kit. Qiao believed that thanks to HUAWEI Analytics Kit, they will hit a new record this year in terms of user operations.
In addition, Yang Jiasong, Operations Director of Tower Defense Empire, shared his experience of using HUAWEI Analytics Kit while working on Tower Defense Empire.
A keynote speech given by Tower Defense Empire, one of HUAWEI Analytics Kit's partners
"Thanks to HUAWEI Analytics Kit's real-time monitoring function, we can now see the number of new users in real time when testing assets, so we can adjust our assets as needed to improve the experience for new users", said Yang. By using the funnel function, Tower Defense Empire's developers could see how many new users they were attracting, observe the conversion status at each stage, and locate issues which were causing churn. They could also save the characteristics of their lost users as an audience for further research. According to Yang, HUAWEI Analytics Kit's filter and comparison analysis also helped them to perform user segmentation analysis and multi-dimensional drill-down analysis, so they could verify each version update.
The team at Tower Defense Empire believes that the analysis and application of data is indispensable to their continuous development. In addition to real-time analysis, funnel analysis, comparison analysis, and user lifecycle analysis, HUAWEI Analytics Kit also supports cross-platform and multi-device analysis, helping developers to focus on user insight and strategy optimization. Developers do not need to spend time on developing analysis systems and processing data, which means they can use this time for other tasks and be more efficient.

HUAWEI Analytics Kit Experience Area

In the HUAWEI Analytics Kit interactive experience area, developers were very interested in the Kit's powerful functions, which many felt would be very helpful to their businesses. Most expressed interest in integrating HUAWEI Analytics Kit, so they could take a more data-driven approach.

Codelabs on Simplified Integration

In the Codelabs area, developers experienced HUAWEI Analytics Kit's simplified integration process, and learned how to debug data reporting online through real-time debugging functions, greatly enhancing their confidence in integrating HUAWEI Analytics Kit.
Codelabs area
In future, HUAWEI Analytics Kit will continue to focus on machine learning algorithms, intelligent one-stop marketing platforms, and 1+8+N all scenarios. HUAWEI Analytics Kit hopes to work with more developers and partners to build a digital innovation ecosystem, and lead the new era of all-scenario intelligence based on big data.

2020.09.19 19:57 jPup_VR Seems like a good time to bring up LifeLog- DARPA's plan for an all-knowing civilian database that 'coincidentally' got cancelled on February 4th 2004, the very same day that Facebook launched.

Main point starts in the 4th heading, "What the hell is LifeLog" (the big text) and finishes in "Finally, the coincidence:" but the full read is recommended for context- including links.
I'm going to link sources here so as to avoid any accusations of speculation. I am not speculating anything here, only providing information. You can freely take that information in and come to your own conclusions. I encourage anyone who disagrees to engage with the information and participate in the discussion below, rather than downvoting others doing so. If the point you're trying to make relies on diminishing someone else's point through anything other than a solid argument, then your point is likely not very good.
Also if we can avoid the whataboutism logical fallacy and deflection of "but other companies track you too!" that would be great. We should criticize them as well.
Finally, if you just "don't care" about all this, then please continue to not care elsewhere, as stating that it doesn't bother you does nothing to further the conversation.

So as we all know now, Oculus services are now going to require a Facebook account- an account that must be registered under your legal name.
There's been a lot of talk of 'dummy accounts' here- users who wish to intentionally obscure their identity and information in order to avoid Facebook's abuse of their data. The problem is that when such an account is detected (this happens very quickly- especially when you're purchasing games using a credit/debit card with your name on it), it becomes locked/banned until the users identity is confirmed by sending Facebook a photo of their government issued ID.
We all know of Facebook's extensive controversies regarding privacy and handling of user data- see Wikipedia's article 'Criticism of Facebook' or 'Privacy Concerns of Facebook', or the time Facebook admitted that it tracks and profiles data on everyone- even those without a Facebook account- and does so all across the web, specifically anywhere with a 'Like' or 'Share on Facebook' button.
__________________________________________
All this discussion got me thinking, "why?"
Why would they force users who've opted to only use an Oculus account up until this point to connect through Facebook?
Well for that, I'm sure they have plenty of reasons- but more than anything it just reminded me of the time that Facebook demanded I send in a photo of my government issued ID.
That too, left me scratching my head wondering why... and the research I did regarding that ordeal ultimately lead me to the information I'm about to share here:
DARPA's Life Log project and it's apparent dissolution on the day of Facebook's founding.
__________________________________________

What the hell is Life Log?

First outed by WIRED in May of 2003, Life Log is separate from DARPA's controversial "Total Information Awareness" predictive policing program.
LifeLog was a [civillian] user-facing tool whereby an individual would submit information of various kinds to an ongoing database in order to catalogue their life experience.
A more detailed explanation here:
"LifeLog aimed to compile a massive electronic database of every activity and relationship a person engages in. This was to include credit card purchases, web sites visited, the content of telephone calls and e-mails sent and received, scans of faxes and postal mail sent and received, instant messages sent and received, books and magazines read, television and radio selections, physical location recorded via wearable GPS sensors, biomedical data captured through wearable sensors. The high level goal of this data logging was to identify "preferences, plans, goals, and other markers of intentionality".
Another of DARPA’s goals for LifeLog had a predictive function. It sought to “find meaningful patterns in the timeline, to infer the user’s routines, habits, and relationships with other people, organizations, places, and objects, and to exploit these patterns to ease its task"
Vice explained it as:
An ambitious program aimed at recording essentially all of a person's movements and conversations and everything they listened to, watched, read and bought.
I can imagine reading that in 2004 would've been pretty shocking, but by today's standards it's pedestrian.
Whether it's on Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube, TikTok, Tinder, Venmo, or any other form of social media- all of the things described above have come to pass- the only exception being that all of it is done through private organizations rather than government-mandated software.
But why not?
___________________________________________
Why did LifeLog never see the light of day?
Well in short, civil liberties activists and organizations like the ACLU thrust it into the public debate- citing the obvious privacy concerns and potential for abuse from the government agencies and individuals running the system. This was cited in this Wired article from the day the project was closed.
An interviewee in the article says (in spite of the public scrutiny and cancellation):
"I am sure that such research will continue to be funded under some other title. I can't imagine DARPA 'dropping out' of such a key research area."
____________________________________________

Finally, the coincidence:

So DARPA- the US Government's foremost authority on military/intelligence research and development, with an annual budget of more than $3,000,000,000- put an extraordinary amount of effort into designing this platform:
Facebook’s 2008 round of funding was led by Greylock Venture Capital, which invested $27.5 million. The firm’s senior partners include Howard Cox, another former NVCA chair who also sits on the board of In-Q-Tel. Apart from Breyer and Zuckerberg, Facebook’s only other board member [at time of quote] is Peter Thiel, co-founder of defense contractor Palantir which provides all sorts of data-mining and visualization technologies to US government, military and intelligence agencies, including the NSA and FBI, and which itself was nurtured to financial viability by Highlands Forum members.
Above quote taken from the Medium article, "How The CIA Made Google"
______________________________________________________

Conclusion:

So did the players behind Total Information Awareness and LifeLog abandon ship, or is it possible they just shifted gears- realizing that the majority of people would willingly participate, so long as they were doing so through a seemingly private tech company rather than a .gov portal?
At the end of the day, we don't know.
Those who will say "this is not the case" can't be any more sure of that than those who claim with certainty that it is.
We'll leave it at a definitive "maybe", though I'd be omitting some truth to not say that I personally lean towards "probably".
If Facebook isn't just a 'private' continuation of LifeLog... their literally-simultaneous closing and founding sure is one hell of a coincidence.
